McDay Designs

Life with disability, neurodivergence or chronic illness doesn’t come with instructions, but holy crap does it ever come with mountains of paperwork! This is the world I live in, so I started creating practical printables, planners and digital tools for parents, spoonies and carers who are navigating the oh-so-fun world of NHS appointments, care admin, hospital stays and the never-ending 'to-do' list of 'to-do' lists. At McDay Designs you're not going to find aeshetically pleasing but ultimately useless stuff, these are real tools, real-life tested made to cut through some chaos, and help you breathe easier.

The Why

I’m Mac, the creator behind McDay Designs. I build practical guides and printables for parents and carers who spend far too much time dealing with hospitals, schools, therapies, and the endless admin that comes with caring. As both a disabled adult and the parent of a child with complex medical needs, I know how overwhelming the paperwork and appointments can be. Over the years, I’ve developed simple systems that make it easier to stay organised without burning out. Now, I share those tools so other families can save time, reduce stress, and feel more prepared. You won’t find complicated colour-coded binders here. Everything I create is straightforward, repeatable, and designed for busy families who need solutions that actually fit into real life.If you’ve ever felt buried under paperwork or lost in hospital letters, my resources are here to help you feel a little more organised and a lot less alone.

Hospital Bag Series

Yes, I am McDay Designs, but I am also the Mum behind the Plots, Plans & Parenthood blog. There's not a whole lot on the site now as I am mid-revamp, but I keep it open for one reason - the 'hospital bag series'.Knowing what to pack and why was the bane of my early hospital years experience. When I tried to look up information about what to pack, not just for my child, but for me, there was nothing that wasn't pregnancy-related. So, I created a guide. Now it's used by parents in the UK who want to know what to pack for hospital stays, not just for their child, but for them too. Parent have been referred to the guide by some fabulous UK charities including 'What? Why? Children in Hospital' who called it 'the most extensive guide we've seen for parents'.
